Such a lovely day for sketching in our capital city - but what a challenging building! There was so much going on in just the curved balcony, in fact, that i decided to pull my focus there.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall during the design of these historic frontages. How on earth did the Architect convince the client to add a these soft curves and grand decorative columns - to carve these remarkable layers of ornate dressed stone not because they lent the structure any additional strength, but simply because they would be beautiful? (in any event, thank goodness they did!)
