studying architecture at university, running a design studio & WORKSHOP with my husband callum for 15 years, and teaching design at both college and university level has given me a great love for creativity in all its forms - and it’s safe to say i have always had a fascination for the built environment. but when during the summer of 2024 i accompanied callum on a train journey from our home in scotland down through much of england, to promote his debut book, Ingrained: The making of a craftsman, i wasn’t expecting inspiration to grab me quite the way it did.

While callum chatted anxiously with booksellers, i found myself drawn to sketching the wide variety of bookshops we visited along the way. bookshops hold such a magical place in our communities, and the buildings (and staff!) all had such distinctive characters. and it wasn’t long before this personal project - mixing art and architecture, meeting new people and discovering new places, and really looking at buildings, in the way that sketching forces you to do - began to take on a life of its own. i was hooked. i wanted more! …so i kept going.

A growing collection of my bookshop prints are now available from my little online shop, and i’m delighted to discuss commissions too. so if you have a project in mind, or if you’d like me to sketch your favourite bookshop, please reach out in an email or even send me a message on Instagram. i’d love to hear from you!
