I really had some fun with forced perspective while sketching the classical portico entrance to Cheltenham’s Waterstones. Ornate and in some places contemporary, its fantastical doorway more than encourages a pause before entering - it demands it. A pause to shake off the rain; a pause for thought; a pause to consider how many books you already have, and how many more you actually need? (the answer, i am reliably informed by my book-addicted husband Callum, is always more)
