ah yes…The time I learned that speed-sketching isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

We had exactly 10 minutes at Waterstones in York, so while Callum nipped in to drop off an advance copy of his book , out in the busy thoroughfare I did my damnedest to capture the energy of this building just as fast as my pen would let me!

As you might expect, there is a looseness, an almost visibly rushed quality that comes across on the page, lending the sketch a vibrancy i love. But the time constraints also forced me to document what really mattered; to hone in on the most important details.

(To Callum’s undisguised pleasure, I started imposing a strict time limit on my sketches after this.)
